Time for another brilliantly succinct movie review from Robin! Ready? Spellbound: meh.

It was good, actually � very well-paced and touching and so forth. I suppose I was hoping, however, for something more along the lines of Best in Show, except with ugly kids instead of ugly dogs. And, you know, not fictitious. It was far less mean-spirited than I�d hoped. Like, come on here, people! These are spelling bee champions! They�re fish in a barrel! Fish with braces! Fish with speech impediments who pray to Jesus to help them win the spelling bee! But instead of a satirical jab at Middle America, they had a �spelling bee as metaphor for American Dream� thing going on, which BLAH WHATEVER BLAH. I want more clips of the deaf, crusty old Texan demonstrating his liberalism by explaining how Mexicans aren�t all dirty criminals! THAT was some funny.
